My role

I provide administration support to the Research and Improvement team, including arranging workshop venues, ordering stationary and answering daily telephone and email queries. I ensure that the communication between the team and external partners is effective and consistent.

My responsibilities

  • To minute weekly and monthly team meetings
  • To answer telephone and email queries daily
  • To arrange venues and refreshments for monthly workshops
  • To assist with invoicing for the department
  • To order equipment and stationary for office and conference use
  • Projects as and when required.

My background

I started my working life in retail at the age of 16, while studying for my A Levels, and whilst at University. I progressed through the retail world starting at a small clothing store called MK One near where I lived and then moved on to busiest retail location in London – Oxford Street to work in the department store House of Fraser. I progressed through the company to become Sales Support Manager where I really learned the value of team work and how important good communication is.

I then really wanted a change in my career path and so looked for a job within the NHS, where I felt that my work would have a real positive effect on people and their wellbeing. I have worked as a Pre-Operative Assessment Clerk, Ward Clerk and now a Team Administrator. Even though I am not a Health care professional I feel that the work that I do within admin supports the health care professionals in their important day to day tasks.

Why I love my job

I love my job because I get a sense of accomplishment every day as I am always learning something new. Also the feeling of working within a team that are so motivated and dedicated is a real thriving environment to work within.

More about me

As I am just starting out my career in the NHS I am excited to learn lots of new things about what makes the NHS such an important and essential service and what I can do to fit well within the team. I am excited to work in the Research and Improvement team as I think it is the answer to ensuring the NHS strives and survives in the many years to come.
