NERVES (Closed to Recruitment)
The NERVES study aims to find out what is the best treatment for patients with sciatica. To do this we are comparing two groups of patients, one group receives a nerve root block injection and one group undergoes surgery to repair any damage to their spinal discs.
Who can be involved?
- If you are aged between 16 and 65, have been diagnosed with sciatica caused by a prolapsed/slipped disc within the last 12 months and are currently receiving physiotherapy, you could be eligible to take part.
What happens to people taking part in this research?
You will be randomly allocated to either the nerve root block injection or the surgery. Before and after your intervention you will be asked to complete 4 questionnaires throughout the year as a comparison.
