Encouraging people to Be Part of Research
Over the August bank holiday weekend the Academy Team attended Victorious Festival in Portsmouth to engage the public in research and improvement activities within Solent NHS Trust.
Not only was the event an opportunity for our team to talk directly with members of our community about ideas, concerns and suggestions they had regarding the healthcare services they receive, but we were able to work alongside the COVID-19 Vaccination programme team to encourage those who were eligible to have their first vaccination. Visitors to the Academy and Vaccination pop-up tents regularly commented that "if it makes it easier for people to get their jab, why not offer it here" and "even one more person receiving their jab will help".
The Academy's tent had lots going on with fun activities for the family, as well as freebies and temporary tattoos which were loved by all ages! Our Head of People Participation, Carl Adams, said of his time at the festival:
"As a 'Super Saturday team' we had fun talking to families and young people about research and improvement. Many shared their experiences of lockdown and the events of last year, which was really interesting to hear".
If you visited the Academy tent at Victorious please tag us in any photos you might have, and we hope to see you there again next year!
