Claire Langrish
Research Nurse
My role
I am a Research Nurse within the team. I am fairly new to the role, starting in October 2023.
My responsibilities
I am responsible for searching for & delivering clinical research trials across the Trust specific to Sexual Health, Adults & Primary Care. My role is to recruit and monitor patients ensuring safe delivery of the study and report any adverse events.
My background
I started my nursing career in 1984 and qualified as a Registered General Nurse (Adults) in 1987, Registered Midwife in 1990 and Non-Medical Prescriber in 2013. This year marks my 40th year working in the NHS, where I have held a variety of different clinical roles working on medical wards, surgical wards, maternity care, child community health, safeguarding and most recently within Sexual Health. I have seen so many positive changes within that time as a result of research.
Why I love my job
Research is a new role for me; however, it underpins everything I have done in my nursing career. Every day is different with such variety and diversity. I can use my clinical skills from previous roles and still work face to face with patients with the added bonus that the study could influence and improve care in the future. It is a great team to work in.
