My role is Paediatric Research Nurse

My responsibilities

My responsibilities include opening up and recruiting patients to research studies, encouraging and helping clinical teams to get involved in research.

My background

Before starting in my role at Solent I was a research nurse in the Clinical Research Facility at UHS working on paediatric clinical trials which included cystic fibrosis and vaccine clinical trials. Before working in research I was a staff nurse on the children’s wards at Southampton General Hospital which included 8 years as a staff nurse on the children’s neurosurgery ward.

Why I love my job

I love working in a friendly team and helping to promote research to patients and clinical teams at Solent. I also love meeting and talking to patients who take part in studies. It’s rewarding to know that the studies I work on are going to help outcomes for future NHS patients.

More about me

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going on walks, reading. I am a mum to two boys who keep me busy when I’m not at work
