Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare Trust

Today, the 1st of October 2024, our new organisation, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Healthcare Foundation Trust came into being. This is a merger to create a single provider of NHS community, mental health and learning disability services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. It is a really exciting development which aims to reduce inequalities and improve outcomes for patients. 

 

For Research and Improvement, it enables us to work so much more collectively across our communities and to accelerate the building of an evidence base to support care outside of hospitals and in the prevention of ill health. In preparation, our teams have been working together over the last few months. We’ve had joint quality improvement training and opened research studies together. We’ve held away days and collectively started planning for the year ahead. There are so many brilliant initiatives underway and so please do look out for ongoing updates and news. 

 

The integrated approach to research and improvement (combining support for research, quality improvement and clinical effectiveness) will stay and of course, we will continue to work in partnership with our Side by Side network, our community colleagues and others who use our services. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be merging social media and other accounts, and highlighting the work that we’re doing and introducing members of the team.
